Gone Fishin'

Rich's turn to write something here. Last night I took the girls fishing. Sort of. Not too far away from my parents' house is a "fish farm" where they basically breed rainbow trout for the sole purpose of having them caught by customers. I figured actual fishing would be really boring for the girls, but they were excited to experience the thrill of catching a live fish. Looking down into the water, this is what you saw:

It wasn't shooting fish in a barrel, but it was pretty close.

So the fishing poles were very basic, no reel, just a piece of fishing line tied to the end with a hook baited with leather. All you had to do was drop the hook into the water and eventually a fish would bite it. I was surprised that sometimes it took a fish quite a long time to take the bait. In many ways it reminded me of the fishing booth games you see at elementary school or church carnivals. A prize every time.

Unfortunately, Jenn was not able to come as she was feeling ill (went to emergency care to find out she has strep throat). Pops and Grammy came along to share in the fun. The girls were at first a little scared, but eventually decided to give it a try. Abby caught the biggest fish at just over 14 inches.
