A night at the Urgent Care!

Last night Maren decided she should wanted to spend the night in the Urgent Care. She was playing upstairs and thought standing on the stool was a fun thing to do until she fell and landed on her arm. She seemed to be fine at first. I could lift her arm up all the way without it bothering her and it wasn't swelling at least at first. So she laid down on the couch with me for awhile. After about 30 minutes she was still whinning and complaining about it so I looked at it again and oh Iboy i knew something wasn't right. Her arm looked like her bone was popped out. It was hard as a rock and very hot to the touch. I called me neighbor who is a peds nurse practitioner and she came and took a look and told me to take her in. Just how I wanted to spend the rest of my evening. So I called Rich at YM and told him he had to get home. I took her to the Urgent Care by our house and they got her in right away. I was so impressed. They took xrays (not too enjoyable with a 3 yr. old in pain)and found that their was pooling of blood around her elbow which is an indication of a fracture. So they splinted it and put it in a sling, and told us we need to follow up with a pediatric orthopedist. So that's the next step. She was so funny when they were evaluating her she kept saying, "I shouldn't have done that." No she shouldn't but what can you do about it now. It was funny though she says it to everyone that asks about it.The highlight of her trip was they gave her a free ice cream voucher to Chick-fil-A and the high school musical stickers. When we got home she ran into the house gleaming ear to ear and told rich, "Daddy I get to go to Chick-Fil-A." For now we are keeping her druged up on Motrin hoping that it keeps her comfortable. Poor thing I feel so bad for her. I guess somebody had to be the first to have a broken bone and Maren has now taken care of that. Check that off the list. Here's some pictures of our fun filled night.

She looks so cute sitting there. Our first broken bone in our family didn't happen until Will came along. He broke is are at 1 1/2.
At least the summer is over mostly so the cast won't be too bad.
